Awards. Who doesn’t like to get awards? They make you feel so special, all warm and fuzzy inside. I had no idea there was such a thing as blog awards when I started this site, and now I’ve accumulated 4 in the 8 months we have been up and running.
The Leibster Award was the first one I received back in February from Christine at Texanaskitchen for being one of her top 5 favorite new blogs. The Liebster Award originated from Germany and it means “favourite, beloved, dearest”. I feel a special connection with Christine as we both grew up in Corpus and even though she went to a rival high school, we won’t hold that against her. We also tend to visit a lot of the same restaurants when we do go back to our old stomping grounds. I think one of her first blogs I read was Meat and Potatoes, and Men with Big Guns, and after reading that I was hooked. She really tells wonderful and often humourous stories. Please go check out her blog.
Then, in March, I was shocked to receive two more awards from Jen at Juanita’s Cocina. I really love following her blog. She makes such ahhh-mazing looking food and always has great stories to go along with them. I can always trust that her posts will bring a smile to my face, if not make me laugh out loud. She inspires me to cook.
The Versatile Blogger Award
And the Kreative Blogger Award!!
Both of these awards are given BY bloggers TO bloggers as a little way of recognizing and appreciating the dedication that it takes to crank out a blog.
And just this weekend (3/24/12), I was floored to not only receive the Versatile Blogger and Kreative Blogger award again, this time from Jessica at Oh Cake, but to also get the Sunshine Award as well! The concept behind all the awards is to let a blogger know you enjoy their blog as well as to introduce readers to great blogs.
Like I said, when I started, I had no idea there were awards involved in bloggin. Heck, I had no idea about anything in the blog world. But I’m learning and I’d like to think, slowly but surely the quality of my blog is increasing. If you have a chance, take some time and visit their food blogs. You won’t be sorry you did.
**** Update***** 7/31/12 Well, not sure to say, but it’s been awhile since I updated this page. Seems like July has been pretty good to me as far as awards go and I feel honored to be picked by these people for these awards.
First, back on July 14th, Jen at Juanita’s Cocina was nice enough to give me the Addictive Blog Award. I can’t say enough great things about this wonderful woman. If you haven’t stopped by her blog, you are missing out. Pop on over there and see what she’s whipping up in her cocina. It could be some spicy Mex-Tex or maybe its home made ice cream. Ya never know what you are gonna find (but I can almost gurantee you she is probably giving away some cook cooking gadget as well as sharing tasty recipes ).
Next up, this award came from Down Under from Sandra at Sandra and the Works back on the 20th. She nominated me for the Versatile Blogger Award. Not sure how she found my site, but thanks Sandra for checking it out and the award.
And then finally, just today (7/31/12), Lindsay at Normal Cooking awarded me the One Lovely Blog Award. She’s still new to the blog scene with just about 2 months under her belt (Heck, I still think of myself as new to this as I’m wrapping up my 11th month), but somehow I stumbled on her first post Shrimp Boil Kebabs the day after she posted it and even though it might have slipped my mind a bit, it is still high on my list of things to try. Since then she has put up a ton of good looking recipes that you should check out.
Now what are you doing still here? Quit wasting time on my site and go and check out these other wonderful bloggers and see what they got cooking. I’m sure you will find something mouth watering that you MUST cook this week if not tonight.
Monday August 20,2012 – I’d like to thank Anna at Anna’s Shortcakes for giving me the Inspiring Blog Award. I’ m honestly not all that familiar with her blog, but she made a killer CF Steak the other day along with some fried okra. What’s not to love about that?
